If you find you are being hard on yourself or notice a friend being too hard on themselves remember that encouraging yourself or someone else is much more helpful than putting someone down. Write about this experience.
I am hard on myself when I have a test coming up. My example is the ISEE test in January that recently happened. I was very nervous about the test, even though I had studied. My family and my brother (he was taking the same test with me) helped me through it. In the end, the test wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
